To me nothing is more satisfying than replicating, rebuilding or perhaps reinventing something from real life with paint. Though I wouldn’t call my painting hyperrealism I’d like to say it’s “real enough.” I enjoy seeing my hand in the work; the slight imperfections and the evidence of a paint brush all give the work a sense of character and quirkiness. My personal aesthetics and influences often steer me toward colorful, vintage-esque, and at times “silly” subject matter, such as a 1950’s Jello or a slice of buttered toast. In all of my work I strive for a sense of physical beauty and playful lightheartedness that I hope the viewer finds both captivating and amusing.
